Sandra began painting with pastels in 1998.  Her style is representational with bold color mixes, and emphasis on detail. She studied fine art at Fullerton College and Cal State Fullerton in Southern California. She has taken pastel workshops and classes. She has exhibited her pastel paintings in group shows since 1998 and had a solo exhibit in 2006.

She is on the board of the Arizona Pastels Artists Association and is a member of the Arizona Art Alliance.

The PASTEL medium

Soft pastels are made from pure powdered pigment, mixed with binders, and made into a fine paste. Then rolled and dried into sticks. It produces a rich buttery layer of intense color.
